The Google announced a smaller companion to its Google Home smart speaker today, called the Home Mini. The device, which will cost $49, is very much like Amazon’s Echo Dot: it takes Google’s voice-controlled Alexa competitor, Google Assistant, and packs it into a smaller, quieter, and cheaper form factor. (The Echo Dot also costs just under $50.)

The compact version of Google Home will let you talk to the Google Assistant to stream music, control your smart home, check your calendar, and search the internet. The Google Home Mini sports the similar fabric speaker grill at the top and a plastic-looking base at the bottom. The images also show three micro-LED lights on top.

The Google Home Mini is priced at $49 and will be available in three color options – chalk,” “charcoal,” and “coral.” It is already available for pre-order and will start shipping starting October 19.
