New ₹1,000 Banknote: We all know that RBI has introduced all new Rs. 50 and Rs. 200 banknote recently into the market. Now, RBI aims at launching a new set of Rs.1000 Banknotes and make the gap filled between Rs.500 and Rs.2000. This came as a surprise news for everyone who is not expecting the introduction of another new note. Everyone thought that Rs.500 will be the biggest before Rs.2000.

The Rs 1,000-denominated currency note, which was demonetized on November 8 last year, is coming back in a new avatar with enhanced security features. A close source to DNA said that Preparations for the design and the paper for printing the Rs 1,000 note are in full swing. The new currency note with enhanced security features could be out as early as December 2017.

The printing presses at Mysore and Salboni are getting ready to print the brand-new Rs 1,000 notes which will have enhanced security features. Printing of Rs 2,000-denominated notes stopped at least six months back and now the Rs 200 notes are getting printed at these presses.

Next in line for printing is the Rs 1,000 note. The new Rs 1,000 notes were meant to bridge the gap between the current Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes. The source added that the Rs 2,000 note would continue to exist.

The release also said that “ramped up by the currency printing presses, and over time as more notes are printed, it will be distributed across the country through the banking channels and will be available for public in adequate quantity”
