The Telangana government on Saturday (19-08-2017) launches 181 Helpline Number by Women and child welfare minister T. Nageswara Rao in the city here. women helpline number 181 at the Secretariat for women to lodge complaints related to domestic violence, $exual harassment, dowry cases, eve-teasing in public/workplaces etc.The helpline will be functioning on all the 365 days, 24X7 and provide service to women at free of cost.
Women can call or message to 181 about their grievances. Women development and child welfare officer GK Sunanda said that the helpline was meant for all age groups and anyone facing any form of violence can contact us on 181.
Social organizations in the city welcomed the helpline number. "These services are really useful for girls and women in distress and in problems. Coordinating all the departments will achieve good and instant results. We will also propagate this number and would appeal girls to make use of the services," said Achyutha Rao, honorary president of Balala Hakula Sangham.
A budget of Rs 35 lakh has been sanctioned by the ministry of women development and child welfare in this regard. The helpline number was launched by Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao as a part of the women welfare schemes organized by the Telangana women and child welfare department. "Not just this but the state government is also providing double bedroom houses or three acres of land to distressed women," said Rao during the launch.
